Though the promos attracted many viewers by racy shots, flipside stunts , underground fight clubs & many other thematic scenarios set for a macho flick, Yash Raj Film’s ‘Lafangey Parindey’ (U/A) puts forth a simple storyline with a very limited plot. Being a love story set in the gritty streets of Mumbai , the flick tells us the story of Pinky Palkar (Deepika Padukone), an ambitious young girl whose dream of becoming a skate-dancer hits a barricade when Nandu (Niel Nitin Mukesh), a local underground fighter; accidentally crashes a car on Pinky,resulting in her blindness. Struck with guilt, Nandu takes up the daredevil act of training her to the sense of sound and smell, in turn accomplishing her dream to win a talent show. Though being very simple in plot, the story encounters numerous drawbacks which go easy on viewers due to it’s short 120 min duration. With the characters speaking the tapori lingo,one may feel it hard to digest Niel’s character due to his looks that exceed the default calibre. But the director, Pradeep Sarkar does not slip in any frame and carries the script with an elegant.
